Evacuation Memorial

This monument recalls the war years, when the population of Gibraltar, except able-bodied men where evacuated mainly to the UK but also to places like Madeira, Jamaica and French Morocco.
The evacuation started in 1940, and the return of the people back to the Rock, was completed in 1951.
